I have spent the last five years on both sides of a carbon removal project: building the reactors and negotiating the contracts that are supposed to pay for them. I have designed, manufactured and commissioned autothermal pyrolysis units in Ecuador, sold equipment to industrial buyers in Latin America and Europe, and negotiated a five-year CDR offtake with a European buyer under Isometric's standard. That experience left me with a specific conviction: an offtake is not financing. A signed forward contract in Ecuador still meets a cost of capital that no lender will underwrite, which is why I've built the business to earn revenue from equipment and biochar while the carbon revenue matures. I want to talk to the people building the debt, insurance and offtake structures that would make that unnecessary.
