CDR Policy Scoop SHOWDOWN: Should Europe put BioCCS first in its CDR strategy?
Should Europe put BioCCS first in its CDR strategy?
Time for the next CDR Policy Scoop SHOWDOWN, back live on stage at Carbon Unbound Europe. And this promises to be a spicy one.
It is becoming increasingly clear that Europe’s CDR strategy is almost exclusively focused on BioCCS. Proponents argue that this is the quickest and most efficient path to scale. Opponents argue that it locks us into a single approach and goes against the ambition to promote all CDR technologies.
Sounds like a perfect recipe for a debate.
We're thrilled to be hosting this feisty discussion live on stage at Carbon Unbound Europe in London this October.
The motion: "Europe's CDR strategy should put BioCCS first."
Arguing in favour of the motion: Kaja Voss, CEO and Founder of Inherit - the first company in Europe to remove CO2 through BioCCS - arguing that BioCCS is the pathway Europe should be going all-in on.
Arguing against the motion: Alastair Collier, Chief R&D Officer from A Healthier Earth - one of Europe’s leading biochar project developers - making the case for tech neutrality and a broader mix of removal pathways.
Co-host Eve Tamme will moderate as the two sides go head-to-head to keep things punchy, informative, and entertaining.
Expect sharp arguments, live audience interaction, and fresh insight into where Europe should really be placing its bets on carbon removal.
We need the audience to ask the tough questions, and most importantly, to vote to declare the WINNER of this CDR Policy Scoop’s SHOWDOWN debate.
